I am fortunate that my district provides Professional Development Academies for all teachers. This year I choose workshops to learn more about educational technology.
One workshop I attended today focused on assessment technology, and how to make assessment both informative for the teacher and engaging for the students.
We had a wonderful presenter, and I learned about several tools that I was not familiar with.
Two favorites that I know I will implement in my class right away are:

Both of these sites offer teachers a tool for making quizzes that students take in a digital environment.
You can customize your own quizzes, or use one previously created and stored in a database of quizzes.

One idea I had for Kathoot was to let the students actually make a quiz to demonstrate their knowledge of a particular topic.
I envision using Socrative for my table groups to compete with each other while mastering Social Studies or Science content.
I see Kahoot working really well in a 1:1 environment. Unfortunately, the only time that is a possibility at my school is when we go to the traditional computer lab.
I do have access to enough portable devices so that I can have one for each table group. This will allow me to use Socrative in my classroom for group assessments.
Have you used these tools? How do they work in your classroom?
