DITCH That Textbook (read June, 2016)
By: Matt Miller
My review: I loved this book! Matt offers suggestions about how to incorporate technology to enhance the learning experience for students. He stresses that technology is not the end all - be all. It is how we use technology that matters. He empowers teachers to move beyond the curriculum that is given to them to use, and find exciting and engaging material online that matters to students. This book has left me full of inspiration and ideas for next shool year.
Mindset, the Psychology of Success (read May, 2016)
By: Carol Dweck
My review: This is a must read for all parents and teachers. It is amazing the power that mindset has over the successes in our personal and professional lives. Dweck provides several examples where the power of a growth mindset impacted the live of businessmen, athletes, children, parents, and couples. Understanding the power of a growth mindset has already helped me understand my students, coworkers, and family members better. This understanding nurtures more positive interactions and connections.
